Our Elders Advisory Council provides cultural guidance, direction, and accountability for all 13 Moons programs. Elders carry the teachings that ground our work and ensure that every initiative aligns with Oneida values and responsibilities.

The Elders Advisory Council supports by:
● Guiding cultural protocols and teachings
● Offering direction for land-based programming
● Advising on community needs and priorities
● Sharing knowledge, stories, and language
● Supporting the evaluation of programs in a culturally meaningful way

The council plays an essential role in protecting cultural continuity, ensuring that decisions are made with care for past, present, and future generations.

Our staff deliver day-to-day programming that supports land-based learning, youth mentorship, cultural workshops, community events, and seasonal activities.

Staff roles include:
● Facilitating outdoor and land-based learning
● Supporting cultural and language activities
● Coordinating family programming and youth initiatives
● Managing logistics, safety, transportation, and materials
● Creating welcoming, culturally rooted learning environments

Every member of the 13 Moons team plays a role in community wellness and cultural revitalization.

The 13 Moons Youth Council ensures that young people have an active and meaningful voice in shaping programming and community direction. They represent the next generation of land stewards, leaders, and language learners.

The Youth Council contributes by:
● Offering youth perspectives on programming and future planning
● Supporting events, camp activities, and family programming
● Helping guide workshops for children and younger youth
● Bringing creativity, leadership, and community engagement
● Strengthening continuity between generations

The Youth Council keeps our work rooted in the lived experiences and needs of today’s young people while preparing them for future leadership.
